Dog-Friendly Bars in Melbourne

pet shampoo & conditioner, oatmeal shampoo for dogs, dog shampoo for itchy skin, natural dog shampoo

You know that feeling when you really want to go out with friends but you also just really want to hang out with your dog all night? Thankfully, many of Melbourne’s best bars don’t make you choose between the two.

Bouzy Bar à Vins
976 High St, Armadale
Open 7 days from 5pm-late

No French winebar would be complete without a dog-friendly policy! This new bar in the heart of Armadale adjoins King’s Arcade, so your pooch can sit next to your table like a good French dog while you dine in on French wines and French cheeses and slowly morph into a fully-fledged Parisian.

College Lawn Hotel
36 Greville St, Prahran
Beer Garden open 7 days 12pm-late

Your dog will hear the excitement before seeing it as you approach the beer garden at the College Lawn Hotel. Tucked away in a private pocket of Prahran, this dog-friendly pub not only encourages you to bring your best friend for its afternoon walk but also holds regular ‘dog events’ that they advertise on their website.

Great Northern Hotel
644 Rathdowne Street, Carlton North
Open 7 days from 11am-late

One look at their Instagram account says it all: @dogs_of_gnh is essentially a slideshow of the many well-dressed hipster pups that grace their huge beer garden every day. With good outdoor heating and lots of pooches to play with, this is basically doggy crèche with alcohol for the humans.

The Local Taphouse
184 Carlisle St, St Kilda East

Open 7 days from 12pm-late

St Kilda’s best-kept secret is perhaps the upstairs deck at The Local Taphouse which is actually dog- friendly. Not only do the security guards love patting your pup on the way in, but it’s not that well-known that this is a safe place for pooches so your dog will likely be lavished with all the attention from other bar-goers.
