Australian hemp: a quick recap

Hemp seed oil is sourced from the seeds of a specific strain of the cannabis Sativa plant. These seeds have very low levels of CBD and there’s a real science to how they function in the body.

Because hemp seed oil is extracted by cold-pressing the seeds of the plant, it doesn’t contain any THC – making it safe and legal for people and pets to use in Australia (and in many other parts of the world, too!).

2. L-Tryptophan

The no. 1 ingredient in the Hemp Anxiety Aid for calming your precious pup, tryptophan is one of the 10 amino acids in dogs which form the building blocks of protein.

Of the functions amino acids are required for, tryptophan in dogs is of particular importance for the production of hormones and neurotransmitters. Sounds science-y, we know!

Put simply, it helps with the following:

Melatonin: a hormone responsible for regulating sleep and seasonal reproduction.

Serotonin: a neurotransmitter that regulates things like mood, sleep and appetite.

Vitamin B3: also known as Niacin, this vitamin helps to prevent deficiencies such as mouth ulcers and loss of appetite associated with weight loss and anorexia in dogs.

3. B vitamins

B vitamins – specifically Vitamin B6 – help to calm dogs through the process of converting 5HTP to serotonin (serotonin makes us feel good!).

4. Magnesium

The second most abundant mineral in your dog’s body after potassium, magnesium is a necessity in helping your pup with all bodily functions and moods.  Magnesium aids in the contracting and relaxing of muscles as well as muscle regeneration.  This vital mineral plays an important role in your dog’s mental and emotional well-being.
