Houndztooth Botanicals
Our natural dog shampoo is full of Australian botanicals
Here at Houndztooth, we believe in providing natural, quality pet products to dog (and cat!) owners everywhere.
In formulating our natural dog shampoo blends, we harnessed the power of Mother Nature by using all-natural Australian botanicals.
Our 6 favourite Australian Botanicals
1. Goat milk
Our team at Houndztooth are proud to have created the first entirely goat milk-based dog grooming range in the industry.
Goat milk is a powerful ingredient, rich in essential fatty acids and triglycerides that helps to hydrate your pup’s skin and keep their coat soft and shiny.
It also contains lactic acid (alpha hydroxy acid or AHA), a gentle, natural exfoliant that aids in removing dead skin cells and creating a healthy base for your dog’s new skin cells and coat to grow.
2. Colloidal oatmeal
Colloidal oatmeal is a finely-milled oat that soothes irritated, itchy skin. A slow-release ingredient, it holds water over the skin to keep it hydrated for a longer period of time.
Oatmeal contains antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties that a pooch with sensitive skin will love.
Whether your dog is suffering from insect bites, allergies or just generally dry skin, our natural dog shampoo with oatmeal will be a soothing solution to their scratching.
3. Australian banksia extract
Because we love using natural (and in this case, native!) Australian ingredients in our grooming range, we knew that Australian banksia extract was going to be a must-have.
A powerful emollient, Australian banksia extract sinks deep into the follicles of your dog’s fur to stimulate healthy growth – promoting a luxuriously soft and glossy coat.
A natural skin-softener, we have included this extract in most of our Australian-made pet shampoo & conditioner range.
4. Almond oil
Almond oil – like colloidal oatmeal – is another slow-release Australian botanical that absorbs into the skin slowly, locking in moisture and providing lasting hydration.
Packed with vitamin E, it works as a strong exfoliant that gently removes dirt and other debris from the skin.
Almond oil has been used for centuries in treating eczema and other dry skin conditions, which is why it’s perfect for dogs with itchy or dry skin.
5. Virgin coconut oil
We love coconut oil because of its ability to improve not only your pup’s skin and coat, but also their immune and digestive systems.
As a natural, edible oil, it’s safe for your dog to lick after being applied to their skin. It is also full of healthy fats that aid in moisturising and nourishing your furry friend’s coat.
Loaded with anti-inflammatory, antifungal and antibacterial properties, it even helps to fight off infection.
6. Australian Hemp seed oil
Our 100% cold-pressed pure hemp seed oil is sustainably sourced and made in Australia.
Natural hemp seed oil works wonders in improving your pup’s skin and coat. The anti-inflammatory properties in hemp and lactic acid in goat milk work harmoniously to provide relief and nourishment to your dog’s problem prone skin.
Because hemp seed oil has a wide array of beneficial properties, we have dedicated an entire range to the Australian botanical. From our Hemp Anxiety Aid to our Hemp Seed Oil and Hemp Shampoo for Inflamed Skin, we’ve got your precious pooch covered on all things hemp.
